Gail S. Westhoven, MD, FAAD
Dr. Gail Westhoven is a Birmingham native and has spent most of her life in the area. After graduating from Vestavia Hills High School, she attended Auburn University, earning a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude. She then moved to Columbia, South Carolina where she completed her medical degree with honors at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. After an internal medicine internship at Richland Memorial Hospital, she attended residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. In 1999, she returned to Birmingham where she joined Dr. Larry Sampson in his longstanding practice, Associated Dermatologists.
Dr. Westhoven is married to her husband David of 30 years. He is the CFO of the practice. She has three wonderful daughters, Brooke, Courtney, and Diane. She enjoys travel, reading, and spending time with her family. She is an active member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church.
Dr. Westhoven is a board certified dermatologist, completing her certification in 1999 and re-certification in 2009 as well as 2019. She was the 2012 President of the Alabama Dermatology Society and in recent years has served as both the Secretary and Vice president. She is a member of the American Association of Dermatology and the Jefferson County Medical Society.
